How to brew
- Tea: 2.5 g of dry tea per 8 fl oz (240 ml) of water
- Water temperature: 185°F (85°C)
- Steep time: 3–5 minutes, then strain or remove the tea bag.
- Cups per ounce: Approximately 11 cups per ounce (28.35 g), using 2.5 g per 8-fl-oz cup. This estimate counts the first infusion only.
Start with this guide and adjust to taste. A larger mug or stronger brew uses more tea and makes fewer cups per ounce.

Cucumber & Lemon Tea Rice Salad with Toasted Mate
Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 2.5 g Toasted Mate
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup peeled cucumber, finely diced
- 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
- ½ cup dry white rice
- 1 tablespoon Arbequina Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Salt to taste
Method
- Heat 1 cup water to 185°F. Steep the Toasted Mate for 3–5 minutes, then strain or remove the tea bag.
- Combine the strained tea and rice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, cover and cook on low for 15–18 minutes, or until the rice is tender.
- Spread on a plate to cool promptly. Toss with the fruit, lemon zest, olive oil, lemon juice and parsley. Season lightly and serve.
