Imperial Gyokuro Genmaicha, Organic
This organic Japanese genmaicha combines gyokuro green tea with toasted and popped rice. Gyokuro is a shade-grown tea style; the rice brings a warm, nutty aroma to its savory green-tea base.
Our earlier tasting notes describe a mellow cup in which the toasted rice and leafy sweetness meet. Follow the green-tea brewing guide below and taste it plain first, then try another infusion of the same leaves.
Contains Caffeine
Ingredients: Gyokuro Green Tea, Popped Rice, Toasted Rice
How to brew
- Tea: 2.5 g of dry tea per 8 fl oz (240 ml) of water
- Water temperature: 160°F (71°C)
- Steep time: 1½–2 minutes, then strain or remove the tea bag.
- Cups per ounce: Approximately 11 cups per ounce (28.35 g), using 2.5 g per 8-fl-oz cup. This estimate counts the first infusion only.
Start with this guide and adjust to taste. A larger mug or stronger brew uses more tea and makes fewer cups per ounce.
