Purple White
Purple White is a white tea from the Pu’erh area of Yunnan, made with leaves from a purple-hued cultivar. Our original notes describe a mix of whole, wiry leaves with a delicate sweet aroma reminiscent of berries.
Once brewed, it offers a brownish-purple cup with a light white-tea character and floral finish. Try the lower white-tea temperature below and re-steep the leaves to follow its subtle sweetness.

Ingredients: White Tea
How to brew
- Tea: 2 g of dry tea per 8 fl oz (240 ml) of water
- Water temperature: 180°F (82°C)
- Steep time: 3–5 minutes, then strain or remove the tea bag.
- Cups per ounce: Approximately 14 cups per ounce (28.35 g), using 2 g per 8-fl-oz cup. This estimate counts the first infusion only.
Start with this guide and adjust to taste. A larger mug or stronger brew uses more tea and makes fewer cups per ounce.
